10 Miles on the Bike

This afternoon, I went on bike ride. The weather was sunny and gorgeous and perfect for enjoying being outdoors. I took a few photos along the way, but not many as I had my MapMyRun app tracking my progress. But, I will always stop for trees.

I ended up doing 10 miles and there was a special treat at the end of the journey:
Delightful neighbors had a box of homegrown grapefruits by their mailbox and I grabbed one. It was a delicious and mostly seedless reward for some exercise I was happy to complete.

Boys and the Blues

Boys and the Blues

2 brothers,
In the same room,
Were tying their shoes.
Their daddy, in the next room,
Started playing the blues.

The boys started listening
And began to choose.
Considered the path
Paved for them, ready for them.

Took into consideration their own moods.

Boy 1 headed to the closet,
Pulled out a pair of his
Favorite boots.

Boy 2 danced around barefoot,
Wondered how he could lose.

No one, nothing could come between
Boy 1 and Boy 2.
These boys knew how to look beyond
Music and shoes.
Brothers, they were. Quite the two.

Maybe it was fate,
Possibly some sort of shoe muse,
That changed the way those boys
Walked through space that day.

The day those boys heard the blues.

“Where are they headed? What are they after?”

Look down at your own shoes!
We’re all just boys, making decisions,
With a daddy, in the next room,
Playing the blues.

Prizes in the Mailbox

There was a parcel in the mailbox from a special friend today and I was so exicted to see the contents. I love keys and the decorative brass one that was sent will really add to my collection. Nothing like a nice reminder that somebody out there was thinking of you.

UPDATE:

Upon further inspection, it turns out that the key is also a corkcrew and bottle opener. I was playing around with it and realized that the top turned and there is more to this piece than meets the eye. I texted my friend and she had no idea. So exciting!
