There was a parcel in the mailbox from a special friend today and I was so exicted to see the contents. I love keys and the decorative brass one that was sent will really add to my collection. Nothing like a nice reminder that somebody out there was thinking of you.

UPDATE:
Upon further inspection, it turns out that the key is also a corkcrew and bottle opener. I was playing around with it and realized that the top turned and there is more to this piece than meets the eye. I texted my friend and she had no idea. So exciting!
We had a fire in the backyard this week and I couldn’t resist taking a couple photos. Nothing like a good fire to warm the spirit and I have always loved the smell.
When the fog arrives
On the way to a goal,
Find faith and remember
To give it a go:
Look toward your light,
The reminder you know.
A peace will come;
The feeling will grow.
For, when the fog clears
And the burden subsides,
Strength will be revealed
Where lightness resides.
I saw something similar to the above image recently and thought it was interesting and definitely something I have never noticed before about the two words. I find value in both speaking and listening and think the two can be done simultaneously, but sometimes a great treasure does come from finding a certain silence and I am on board with having more of that in my life. Hoping for a wonderful 2017!
When you’ve become the same old song and dance,
A different costume on a different stage,
Maybe you need to take a deep breath again,
Find a new you, and begin again.
Is it worse to stay on a sinking ship Or to be a person who gave it all up too soon? A difficult question, When you have white teeth and red lips That can light up any room.
Directors will tell you to ease up,
Relax
Sometimes, tension is your body’s way of saying,
“Hon, it’s time to let it go.”
Fa la la la Boo doo bee doo
Time to hang up the ol’ hat And get a new ’do.
“Never give up”
Is all that you hear each day
But, do give in to taking a bow,
When it is you you are winning —
At the end of the play.
Taxi on the Brooklyn Bridge
Suitcase in the trunk
Carrying what was left of me On a trip I had to take
Leaving home ain’t easy Never a fun decision to make But, made it was on 12.06 A year ago today
Where are you headed, Mr.? Where will the road lead? Cars can only take you so far, Only go a certain speed Where are you headed, Mr.? This deal you have to seal Could leave you different, in the end So, now, how do you feel?
Visits back to the city Have kept my heart upbeat Faces I can only bare to miss so long The streets I kiss leave me afraid to blink
Where I was a year ago Gives perspective, when I stop to think Of judging not where I am today Rather, looking back to really see
Never can go back Swimming ahead is all there is My arms can always paddle When I wish to get away Away is every place I reach That’s the story, at least, today
Where are you headed, Mr.? Where will the road lead? Cars can only take you so far, Only go a certain speed Where are you headed, Mr.? This deal you have to seal Could leave you different, in the end So, now, how do you feel?
I just finished work and am almost 100% packed to head to New York! I will be staying with Liz in Park Slope and visiting with friends until the 25th. I am super excited to get to see everyone and to be back in my old neighborhood for the week of Thanksgiving. My friends Jodi and Oniel have a big party/feast every year and there will be plenty of faces at the table I am thankful to have in my life.
On the 25th, I’ll be heading to Jamaica with Jodi and Oniel and meeting my friend Jessica at the airport in Montego Bay. Oniel is from Negril and I went with them in 2010 and had an amazing time. My plan is to do a whole lot of relaxing, soak up the sun, and to find a rum punch shortly after my arrival.
There is nothing like a good old vacation to make you smile and I am so happy mine is here. Later!
